Wonderfully different, wonderfully you

Helping kids, teens, and young adults embrace who they are and become who they want to be

About Wildflower Counseling Services

Welcome to Wildflower Counseling Services, where your differences are your strengths. My name is Lily Kern, and I come to private practice with years of experience working with school-aged children, teens, young adults, and their families.

As humans, we’re shaped by the relationships we build. When life feels overwhelming, those relationships can become strained or hard to navigate–with others and with ourselves. My work is all about helping kids, teens, and young adults accept who they are, work through relational challenges, and build new skills so they can emerge as the best version of themselves.

My style tends to be informal; we will address your challenges, but we’ll absolutely have laughs along the way. Humor, authenticity, and openness are important to me in all of my relationships. Past clients have described me as nonjudgmental; I believe every thought, emotion, and behavior happens for a reason, and I am not here to make you feel bad about any of it. From this place of acceptance and openness, we’ll start to find more helpful ways of getting your needs met.

My Clients

My ideal client is a child, adolescent, or young adult who is feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of school, relationships, and daily life. They might be struggling with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, family challenges, or simply feeling like they don’t quite fit the mold — and that’s okay! I love working with people who are a little quirky, sensitive, creative, or just see the world differently. If you’ve ever worried about being too much, you may be in the right place.

My Approach

I take a relational, whole-person approach to help clients build stronger connections with themselves and others and draw from several therapeutic approaches to support self-discovery and skill-building:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): to help clients address rooted patterns of thought and behavior that may no longer serve them.
  • Relational approaches: to understand how early caregiver relationships shape how we show up in the world.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): to help clients look nonjudgmentally at all parts of themselves to promote safety and emotional regulation.
  • Creative tools: such as drawing, role play, and other expressive methods to foster reflection and growth.
  • Wraparound support: to coordinate care with school staff, medical professionals, and other providers.

Therapy with me is ultimately about looking inward with openness, working with what we find there, and bringing that new knowledge into the world around us. Doesn’t sound so complicated when you say it like that, right?

If you or someone dear to you is ready to start therapy, I’d love to come along for the ride. Hardships in life are inevitable, but we don’t have to go at it alone.

Therapy with me is ultimately about looking inward with openness, working with what we find there, and bringing that new knowledge into the world around us.
